Skoda helps drivers keep their cool
It’s unlikely that many drivers will have been thinking about their car’s air conditioning over the past few months. But as spring brings the warmer weather Skoda recommends an air conditioning clean-up to prevent the system from harbouring microbiological growths that can cause unpleasant odours.
During the life of a car micro-organisms can get trapped in the evaporator fins of a vehicle’s air conditioning unit. Left to their own devices these can breed and will often cause a very nasty smell and, in some cases, an allergic reaction.
Although some high street stores sell deodorising products, most simply mask the smell and don’t tackle the root cause of the problem. At participating Skoda retailers across the UK, however, the expert aftersales teams are offering customers a treatment that eradicates the micro-organisms as well as the unpleasant odour.
Skoda Head of Aftersales, John Bower explains: “The Skoda approved process uses a specialist disinfectant treatment that eliminates the microorganisms throughout the entire air conditioning system. It is quick, inexpensive and the car is ready for use very soon after treatment.”
“We use specialist technology that generates a disinfectant vapour that is so fine it can reach even the smallest crevices. Some people buy aerosols that are designed to do a similar job, but in reality they produce droplets that are too heavy to circulate effectively throughout the whole system. Not only does this mean they are not as effective, but in some cases they can leave wet marks or even stains on the car’s upholstery.
“Furthermore, these aerosols are often solvent based and use highly flammable propellants. Our product is water based, non-toxic and non-flammable, making it completely safe.”
In addition to the clean-up treatment, Skoda also recommends that drivers have their vehicle’s air conditioning serviced every two years to ensure that the system is operating at optimum performance.
