Roadshow helps buyers onto the property ladder in Somerset
Somerset housebuilder, Barratt, is celebrating the success of a property roadshow in Taunton which helped buyers learn how easy it can be to get onto the housing ladder.
The government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme was the subject of the roadshow held in conjunction with South West Homes and took potential buyers through the process of purchasing with the scheme.
“Demand from first time buyers and others who have been priced out of the property market is high in Somerset so we were delighted to show so many people how we can help,’’ said Barratt sales director Caroline Hill.
“The response from visitors on the day was tremendous as they saw that it is possible to buy a new home, and they were impressed with the range of properties we currently have available with HomeBuy Direct in the area."
A ‘not for profit’ organisation appointed by the Homes and Communities Agency, South West Homes is the first point of contact for advice for those who feel unable to buy their own homes and it provided experts to talk through all aspects of HomeBuy Direct.
Buyers who are eligible for the scheme can buy a brand new home at just 70% of the purchase price as up to 30% is funded by a shared equity loan from Barratt and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and buyers only need a five per cent deposit.
Barratt’s current Somerset developments include Stockmoor Parade in North Petherton and Festival in Bridgwater together with Cades Farm at Wellington and the Old Cider Works at Norton Fitzwarren.
