Michelin continues MPG Marathon sponsorship in 2010

Michelin is continuing its sponsorship of the 2010 MPG Marathon which is organised by Fleet World magazine.
Now in its 8th year, the 2010 MPG Marathon again strives to prove that skilful eco-driving can increase safety, dramatically reduce fuel costs and significantly lower the CO2 emissions produced by Britain's 30 million motorists. With ringing Ministerial and opposition party endorsements, drivers in the MPG Marathon put the manufacturers’ own estimates of fuel consumption to the test, and frequently come out on top.
Michelin is known throughout the world for its leadership in the area of low-rolling resistance tyres for all types of vehicles and this is reflected in the Company’s long-standing association with Fleet World magazine and the MPG Marathon.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Dave Crinson, Michelin’s head of fleet sales, said: ‘It is great news that we have continued our sponsorship of this important event. We know that our fleet customers appreciate the fuel saving and environmental benefits of Michelin tyres and we are committed to push this message through our continued support of the MPG Marathon.’
Speaking about the event, Ross Durkin, publisher of Fleet World, added: ‘After vehicle depreciation, fuel bills are the biggest cost facing every fleet manager and motorist in the UK. Cutting fuel bills is not only financially beneficial to business but also cuts risk and emissions. The over-riding message of the MPG Marathon remains: It’s not what you drive, but how you drive that makes the difference and once again the combined efforts of all the participants and sponsors will continue to deliver a first class, educational event, promoting smarter driving for better business.’
The 2010 MPG Marathon will take place at Ettington Chase near Stratford-upon-Avon on 15 and 16 September.
