17th May 2010 Print

Savings of up to 10% are available this May half-term on selected narrowboats based at Linslade – close to Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire - on the Grand Union Canal courtesy of specialist boating holiday agency, Waterways Holidays.

The maximum saving is available on a week’s hire of ‘Oak’ – a 65ft narrowboat sleeping six – which means the revised cost for the week commencing 29 May is now £1400 (saving £170).

Facilities on board include an extra spacious saloon, two bathrooms, fully-equipped kitchen, colour TV, DVD, music centre and full central heating via radiators.

Alternatively, ‘Daffodil’ is a 42ft narrowboat sleeping four – ideal for first timers – which has a well equipped galley, colour TV, CD and full central heating via radiators.  The week’s hire – starting 28 May – is reduced to £1000 (saving £100).

Prices include all fuels used (diesel and gas), car parking, bed linen, buoyancy aids, tuition cruise including a passage through a lock, British Waterways licence and damage waiver.

The Grand Union Canal offers many canalside attractions such as the parks in and around Milton Keynes, the picturesque village of Stoke Bruerne - home to the Waterways Museum, the nature reserves at Marsworth, Grove Park with the Earl of Essex’s ornamental bridges as well as engineering achievements including the Aqueduct at Cosgrove and the Blisworth Tunnel.
