Emily Llewellyn, the UK’s top young female eventer and London 2012 Olympic hopeful, has become an official Subaru Brand Ambassador.

Based in East Sussex, Emily is the only rider to have ridden in seven consecutive European Youth Championship teams, winning a grand total of five gold medals.  She finished in 15th position (from a top international field of 84 entrants) at this year’s Badminton Horse Trials, and won last year’s Under-25 Championships.  Emily currently sits fifth in the British Eventing Top 20 Rider Table for the 2010 season.

As part of the deal with Subaru, the 20-year-old riding prodigy has been given a specially liveried 2.0D XC Forester featuring Union Jack decals to drive.  Emily will also be taking time out of her busy competition schedule to represent the All-Wheel Drive brand at this year’s Houghton International Horse Trials, scheduled to take place between 27-30 May.

Speaking about her ambassadorial status, Emily said: “I am so thrilled to be supported by Subaru. The Forester is a fantastic car and has exceeded all of my expectations.  I find it both powerful yet light to drive and, being All-Wheel Drive, it covers me for every circumstance that I may come across in my equestrian life.”

Subaru UK Marketing Director, Kenyon Neads, added: “It’s clear that Emily is one of the top competitors in her sport and Subaru is proud to back this future world champion.  Our cars continue to be highly popular in the equestrian world, thanks to their go-anywhereAll-Wheel Drive capabilities and practicality.  We’re pleased to give something back by supporting eventing at many levels right across the UK, from sponsoring major competitions to helping accomplished riders reach their full potential.”
