Firefighters in Lewisham called on one of their newest neighbours to lend a hand with their life-saving training on Sunday 20th June when they staged a mock rescue at a Taylor Wimpey development of new flats in Lewisham.

The leading housebuilder gave special permission for a London Fire Brigade crew to take part in the high-level exercise at its brand new Axis development of flats for sale in Lewisham High Street, close the fire station.

The operation involved two fire engines and a team of 10 firefighters, who practised valuable line-rescue skills to save a dummy ‘victim’ from the cab of a crane tower 92ft above street level.

Malcolm Fry, Site Manager for Taylor Wimpey, said: “It’s not every day that you get to see such exciting events unfold at your workplace – thankfully this was just an exercise and not the real thing!

“We appreciate how difficult it is for the fire service to find appropriate places to stage their more unusual and tricky training operations, so when we were approached about using our Axis development of new build flats in Lewisham, we were delighted to be able to offer our assistance.”

Axis is a new development of studios plus one and two-bedroom apartments located at 262-274 Lewisham High Street, with prices starting at just £154,995 and shared equity available on selected plots.

Further information is available by visiting the Sales Centre, open Friday to Monday from 11am to 6pm and Thursdays from 12pm to 7pm.
