Miller Homes completes North East land acquisition

UK house builder Miller Homes is continuing its vote of confidence in the North East housing market after completing its second land acquisition in just eight weeks.
As its assurance in the recovering market grows, Miller Homes has acquired a new development called Alexandra Chase, located on Alexandra Way in Cramlington, Northumberland, which will see construction of 34 three and four bedroom homes commence in this autumn.
The site is the second North East land acquisition for the company so far this year.
Last month Miller Homes’ chief executive Tim Hough visited the region to unveil another new development, Greenvale Park in Newcastle - the first piece of land Miller Homes acquired nationally since the turn of 2010.
Miller Homes area land director John Jameson said: “An upturn in the UK housing market means Miller Homes is also looking at a number of further sites across the region and we are actively seeking land.
“Alexandra Chase is our second new piece of land in 2010 and is a fantastic coup for us to secure such a prime site in a sought after area.
“Despite demand for family and starter homes in the area, there has been very little new build activity in the past few years.
“It is a two acre development just nine miles from Newcastle city centre that will see us breaking ground in the autumn and our first home buyers moving in next year.”
The development will also be the first in the UK to host a brand new Miller house design - a four bedroom detached family home – ‘The Greene’ with integral garage, as well as the popular four-bedroom detached ‘Glenmuir’, which can be viewed at Miller Homes’ Heather Lea Green development in Crook, County Durham.
The first release will consist of three-bedroom semi detached properties; the ‘Nevis’ from approximately £150,000 and ‘The Hawthorne’, which is over 800 sq foot with en-suite facilities.
Show homes on this development will be The Greene and the stylishly designed Nevis, with integrated staircase in the lounge and attractive rear dining room and kitchen with French doors onto the garden.
Miller Homes, part of the Miller Group, is the nation’s largest privately-owned house builder. Since 1934 it has completed more than 60,000 homes and established itself as one of the top three house builders in Scotland and the North East, and top 10 in the UK as a whole. Miller Homes has been developing land in the North East region since 1997.
