Cool down in Tenerife this summer

Families heading to Tenerife for some summer sunshine will love Siam Park, Europe’s newest and most spectacular water park, Loro Parque, one of the most fascinating nature parks in the world and Hotel Botanico, a 5 star luxury hotel in the north of the island.

SIAM PARK – INTRODUCES THE RIDE WITH A ‘BITE’ – SHOOT THROUGH SHARKS!
Opened just under two years ago, Siam Park is Europe’s newest (and one of it’s biggest) water parks. With an exotic Oriental theme, the park boasts over 8500 palm trees alongside other lush sub tropical vegetation through which tower giant stone sculptures creating a stunning backdrop for the park’s 14+ rides and attractions.

The park’s main attraction is the Tower of Power, where adrenaline junkies experience a 28m freefall sensation on their backs, reaching speeds of up to 25mph. New this year is the nail-biting finale where riders are propelled in a clear flume through a giant shark-filled tank, which can also be viewed more calmly from the Mai Thai River.

Other rides include one of the world’s largest lazy rivers – Mai Thai River - where visitors can drift along in crystal clear waters and the Wave Palace, a white sandy beach with 46 wave combinations, from serene to extreme, including the biggest artificial waves in the world – a favourite after-hours with local and professional surfers! For speed lovers is the Naga Racer where visitors can race alongside each other, the Mekong Rapids with its family sized rafts and, for children, Lost City, a self contained action adventure area where little ones can explore bridges, pools and waterfalls and enjoy smaller slides.

Exclusive private cabanas are available for up to four people with prices including park entry, fast passes to all the attractions and a limited all-inclusive service at a selection of Siam Park’s bars. Each cabana includes 4 sunbeds, a shower on the terrace, towels, fan, sofa, TV and a minibar with refreshments, beer and snacks.

LORO PARQUE – PENGUINS, PARROTS AND PLANTS – A ONE-OF-A-KIND DAY OUT
Opened in 1972 with a small collection of parrots, today Loro Parque is arguably the most fascinating wildlife site in Europe. Part zoo, part aquarium, part theme park and part educational facility, in short, it is a one-of-a-kind animal paradise and an inspiring and amazing day out for people of all ages.

Winner of many environmental, zoological and tourism awards, Loro Parque is set in 135,000 sq metres of landscaped environment designed to recreate the natural habitats of its many inhabitants.

Loro Parque’s newest attraction, Katandra Treetops, opened last autumn and at 27 metres high and with a free flight space of 27,000 m³ it is one of the biggest and most impressive free flight aviaries on the planet. In this walk-through experience, guests will be able to get up close to more than 100 different species of birds, feed nectar to some of the colourful inhabitants and view them and their nests from every angle through a network of hanging bridges and treetop walks set in tropical vegetation.

The park also boasts the world’s largest Penguinarium, home to a flabbergasting, endlessly entertaining, assortment of 200 penguins living in their own domed ice covered world, topped up with over one tonne of real snow each day. Guests can also see the park’s first class animal husbandry up-close, with the parrot nursery and animal ‘food kitchen’ on public display. Special Discovery Tours allow visitors to check out the gorilla’s sleeping quarters and the extraordinary ‘Willy Wonka-esque’ behind-the-scenes world of water filtration and snow making facilities for the Penguinarium. Finally, there is a special area for tots; Kinderlandia with its own mini rollercoaster and shady areas for parents to sit and relax while their children enjoy.

HOTEL BOTANICO – A TRANQUIL 5 STAR HAVEN AND SPA
Close to Loro Parque and owned by the same group, lies the 5 star deluxe Hotel Botanico, one of the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’, which is set in six acres of tropical gardens and boasts a stunning Thai-inspired interior with a huge number of important and original artworks and antique rugs.

The hotel is also home to the award-winning Oriental Spa Garden, a magnificent modern spa for guest use only. The complimentary spa boasts indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, and a thermal circuit with everything from traditional Turkish Sauna, to aromatherapy rooms, waterbeds and an Ice Temple. A full range of treatments is also on offer.
