First-time buyer Alison Walker didn’t think she would be able to afford a brand new home – but using the government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme available at Taylor Wimpey’s Kings Reach development of property in Kings Lynn, she is just about to move in to a stunning place of her own.

The 42-year-old Team Leader at Tesco in Kings Lynn had been looking at houses for sale in Norfolk for a couple of months before discovering the opportunity to purchase one for as little as 70% of the full asking price under HomeBuy Direct at Kings Reach.

“HomeBuy Direct made it easy for me to own my first property, and I would have struggled to become a homeowner without the scheme. As a result, my first-time buy is a lot better than I expected, and I’ve been able to choose my kitchen finishes, tiling and carpets which will be fitted before I move in this summer.

“I hadn’t really heard about the scheme before I went along to see Taylor Wimpey at Kings Reach, and it’s definitely worth people going along to the development to find out if they qualify for the HomeBuy Direct scheme with property for sale in Norfolk.”

Once Alison had seen a home she wanted to purchase, Taylor Wimpey put her in contact with Orbit HomeBuy Agents, who administer HomeBuy Direct applications for Norfolk homes and property in Suffolk, and she was delighted to discover that her application had been successful.

Alison continued: “Owning a home is something we all work towards, and HomeBuy Direct has made it a lot easier for me to step onto the property ladder.”

HomeBuy Direct, which is co-funded by Taylor Wimpey and the Homes and Communities Agency, allows qualifying customers with a household income of £60,000 or less to receive a loan worth up to 30% of the value of selected new homes at Kings Reach.

That means those qualifying for the scheme can own a one-bedroom apartment at the development from only £55,997.

The HomeBuy Direct loan is interest free for the first five years, and buyers are able to pay it off in instalments at any stage after the first 12 months.

By using HomeBuy Direct, Alison is moving to a one-bedroom ‘Nene’ apartment at Kings Reach, a stylish home that offers a fresh and modern living space characterised by a generous open-plan reception room.

The kitchen features Alison’s choice of fitted units and worktops, plus an integrated oven, hob and hood, while a light and airy double bedroom and a tiled bathroom off the entrance hallway complete her new home.

Unlike many second-hand properties which first-time buyers might be tempted by, Taylor Wimpey’s new homes in King’s Lynn come with energy efficient central heating and double glazing.

And because they are new they need no decoration or DIY – saving purchasers time and money.

Plus, each apartment at Kings Reach has one allocated parking space, ensuring parking close to home isn’t a problem.

Orbit HomeBuy Agents Manager, Karen Coleman, commented: “We were delighted to work alongside Taylor Wimpey to help fulfil Alison’s dream of purchasing her own home and, similarly, we look forward to helping others in the region to find homes they can afford through HomeBuy Direct.”

HomeBuy Direct is available on selected new homes at Kings Reach, and full details and terms and conditions are available from the Sales Executives.

Situated on the outskirts of King’s Lynn and close to a picturesque lake and the famous Fenland countryside, Kings Reach offers homebuyers a tranquil location that’s handy for a choice of shops, pubs, leisure facilities and places to eat.

For commuters, the A10 and A47 are both within a few minutes’ drive, while the cities of Peterborough and Norwich, as well as the beautiful north Norfolk coast, are also easily reached by road.

To find out more about HomeBuy Direct at Kings Reach, and to view the apartment styles, the development’s Sales Centre is located off Anthony Nolan Road, King’s Lynn, and is open Monday from 1.30pm to 5pm and Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
