Judgement day beckons for the shortlisted entries in the Heart of England in Bloom competition – a key part of the national Britain in Bloom initiative that recognises urban gardening projects that ‘clean up and green up’ local communities.  Subaru is giving its backing by providing vehicles for the team of judges that will this month embark on an epic seven-county tour to pick their winners.

Tasked with spanning counties including Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire during July and August, the quartet of judges has been equipped with an armoury of All-Wheel Drive Subarus.  These include a Legacy 2.0D SE NavPlus, Legacy 2.5i SE NavPlus, Outback 2.0D SE NavPlus and a Forester 2.0D XS NavPlus.

Most of the allocated vehicles chosen for this sizeable expedition feature Subaru’s unique and uncannily smooth ‘Boxer’ diesel engine.  This powerplant will eat up the miles in calm and efficient style – installed in the Outback 2.0D SE NavPlus, it emits just 167 (g/km) of CO2  while returning an impressive combined fuel economy figure of 44.1 mpg.

Should members of the judging panel get caught in any sticky situations, they can rest assured Subaru’s capable permanent Symmetrical AWD system will aid them both in the urban jungle and out on rural terrain.

Marketing Director of Subaru UK, Kenyon Neads, said: “We’re excited to be the driving force behind the Heart of England in Bloom campaign.  The vehicles selected are the pick of an impressive bunch, offering the go-anywhere versatility and practicality demanded by the judging panel.  Pair this to the fuel efficiency of our diesel models and the Heart of England in Bloom campaign judges have a winning combination.”
