Billingshurst pupils get a lesson in site safety

House building was on the curriculum at Billingshurst Junior School this week when Andy Judd, production manager for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, who is building the Hillview Court new homes development in the town, paid a visit to the school to talk about the dangers of playing on building sites.
In front of an audience of children from year three to six, Andy spoke about the new homes development and explained the dangers of playing near construction sites, inviting pupils to model high visibility jackets, hard hats and ear defenders.
The pupils were then asked to design posters to promote safety on building sites with the most informative designs being awarded WHSmith vouchers as prizes.
Mrs Wood, head teacher at Billingshurst Junior School said: “We were delighted to welcome Andy to our school to talk about Hillview Court, especially as the talk focused on the dangers of treating building sites as playgrounds –an important topic and something our pupils need to be aware of, especially with the summer holidays fast approaching!”
Andy Judd commented: “We were really impressed with the posters that the children designed and pleased that they showed so much interest in such an important topic. Taylor Wimpey is committed to supporting the local communities in which it builds and, as an important part of that, always trys to partner with a local school for projects of this nature.”
Hillview Court has been so popular since its launch last November that all of the new homes are now sold. However, if you’re looking for your dream home Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties has a range of developments across the region offering high quality homes at fantastic prices.
