With family shape changing all the time, the notion of a traditional nuclear family certainly isn’t the norm as extended families and 3 generation families increasingly co-habit.

Recognising that finding a home suitable to accommodate the whole family can be a struggle, Family Mosaic will soon be launching a collection of 63 family friendly homes providing three, four and five bedroom properties, available through shared ownership from £81,250 for a 25% share.

Located on Parmiter Street in Bethnal Green, E2, the new development named Silk Gardens has been cleverly designed to ensure maximum space has been created to allow the homes to feature a front garden, a balcony, a raised private terrace or even a private roof garden!

Chris Roads, Sales and Marketing Director at Family Mosaic, comments: “This is a first in the realm of shared ownership properties. In the past you would have associated the term with a one or two bedroom apartment but not now. Family Mosaic are proud to offer a fantastic selection of three, four and five bedroom properties which are a perfect fit for those with young children, newly formed families or those looking for an affordable, larger property.”

Due to launch in July 2010, Silk Gardens will provide 30 three bedroom apartments and maisonettes, 31 four bedroom apartments, maisonettes and townhouses and 2 five bedroom townhouses – all ideal for families or those looking for a larger, affordable property.

Despite being an inner city development, Silk Gardens will have two communal ‘pocket gardens’, secure children’s play areas and public spaces. A selection of homes will have the luxury of either, a front garden, a balcony, a raised private terrace or a private roof terrace. All in all 65% of the site will be amenity space!

Silk Gardens shows a commitment to sustainable living with a level four Code for Sustainable Homes, another impressive feat for an urban shared ownership development. Each property will come with storage for two bicycles as well as the opportunity to grow their own fresh fruit and vegetables on one of the 24 rooftop allotments.

Silk Gardens is situated a short walk from Cambridge Heath rail station in the trendy East London district Bethnal Green. Over recent years gentrification has gathered pace and now artists, young professionals and couples are taking advantage of the proximity to the City and helping to forge a real community spirit. Bethnal Green is home to numerous parks and green spaces including Victoria Park, the capital’s first public park is a huge, charming park with a picturesque lake while London Fields is a smaller, more intimate family friendly park where locals play cricket on a Sunday afternoon.

Cambridge Heath rail station offers services to London Liverpool Street in just five minutes, while Bethnal Green tube station is a short walk from Silk Gardens and is served by the central line offering destinations including Bond Street, Oxford Circus and Shepherds Bush, ideal for shopping with the new Westfield centre.

Apartments at Silk Gardens are available on a part-buy, part-rent basis. To be eligible for the scheme, purchasers will need to be living or working in London and have a household income of less than £60,000.

Prices start from just £81,250 for a 25% share based on the full market value of £325,000. For further information,  visit: thesilkgardens.co.uk
