LANDROVERmax! is inviting enthusiasts to join them in celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic Range Rover with a spectacular convoy from the home of Land Rover at Gaydon to the showground at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on the opening day of the event on Saturday 28th August.

The organisers are aiming to get at least one of every Range Rover model created in the convoy in order to mark this special occasion. Following a feast of bacon sandwiches, the owners and their vehicles will drive in a procession along a designated route which will end with a parade in the main arena.

Tributes will also be paid to one of the British engineering industry's biggest characters and the ‘father’ of the Range Rover, Charles Spencer ‘Spen’ King who died recently. It was his work on the original Range Rover which Spen will be best remembered. No other vehicle before had blended the Range Rover's all-round ability with such a sense of luxury, a combination that is as successful today as it was back in 1970.

Enthusiasts wanting to take part in the convoy should contact Alex Lowett on 0207 907 6329 or email alex_lowett[at]dennis.co.uk for further details and updates.

LANDROVERmax!, held from Saturday 28th to Monday 30th August, brings thousands of Land Rovers of every kind, trade stands, a popular Autojumble and an arena filled with parades of classic Land Rovers, demonstrations on skills such as winching masterclasses from Goodwinch, and entertaining live action.

As well as rare and modified Land Rovers, visitors will also get the opportunity to drive their own Land Rover on a superb off-road course that features an exciting and challenging route through dense woods and was originally designed by Land Rover. A one-hour driving session will cost just £12 and off-road marshals will be on hand to offer advice on how to handle the terrain.

And for those Landy lovers who can’t fit it all into one day, there are excellent camping and caravanning facilities on offer from Wednesday 25th August with discos and live entertainment over the weekend. Make the most of the Bank Holiday at a bargain rate, with family camping and caravanning pitch fees starting at £60 for the weekend, including show entrance tickets.

Land Rover Max is open from 9am until 5.30pm. Day Tickets are available £10 for adults in advance and £14 on the day. Entry for children in free. Weekend tickets (covering the three show days but no camping) are £25 and available in advance only. Car parking is free and all show visitors receive a free show programme. Call the ticket and camping hotline on 020 7907 6329. Visit the website landrovermax.com for further updates.
