Summer hots up for couple with SLK win
It is sunshine all the way for a Dorset couple who have won the use of a sensational SLK-Class Roadster for the summer after attending a national Mercedes-Benz event.
Lucy and Andy Cross, from Wimborne, scooped the superb SLK 350 model in a prize draw at The Summer Event that was held by Mercedes-Benz retailers up and down the country in early June. Around 2,500 people entered the draw during the successful weekend, which offered visitors the opportunity to test drive the range of coupé and cabriolet models, receive a complimentary summer health check on their existing vehicle and enjoy a host of seasonal attractions and refreshments.
Mr and Mrs Cross visited The Summer Event at their local Mercedes-Benz retailer in Poole, where they went to view the latest SLK. However they are no strangers to the delights of the sports car or the Mercedes-Benz brand as Mrs Cross has been the proud owner of a 03-plated SLK 320 for the past year, whilst her husband drives an E-Class Saloon.
The couple will keep the SLK 350 for three months during which time Mrs Cross will use the car for her two-hour commute to Southampton, where she works as a management accountant for a drinks company.
“I’ve only ever won a spa day but made a spur of the moment decision to enter the draw which I had completely forgotten about until Mercedes-Benz called me,” smiled Mrs Cross. “It took a while for the news to sink in but now that it has, I’m absolutely thrilled. I already know just how luxurious and comfortable the SLK is, so I’m really looking forward to discovering just what the latest SLK can do.
“Andy and I popped into the Mercedes-Benz of Poole event after hearing it advertised on the radio as we are thinking about upgrading our existing SLK for a newer model,” she continued. “To have ended up with a three-month test drive of the latest version during the summer is fantastic - the only downside will be giving the car back.”
Sarah Paine, Marketing Communications Specialist, Mercedes-Benz UK, congratulated Mr and Mrs Cross on their win and said they had a summer of pure driving pleasure to look forward to.
“The SLK 350 will ensure that the Mr and Mrs Cross will enjoy a summer to remember and arrive at every destination in style,” she added. “However they were not the only winners at our Summer Event, which provided our customers with a perfect way to view, test drive and purchase cars whilst enjoying the hospitality of our retailers in a very social atmosphere.
