TV designer Chehvani Leonard has revealed her top tips for keeping your home stylish and ahead of the pack at a Miller Homes event in Quedgeley.

The stylist, who has worked on Channel 4’s How to Look Good Naked, was at the Millers Gate development to give homeowners advice on how to make their properties stand out from others on the market.

Chehvani’s top tips:

Try experimenting with calming colours in a spectrum of greens and aqua blues. This will take you back to childhood and lazy days spent at the seaside. Vibrant corals and soft yellows and oranges are also a popular choice, especially when paired with natural materials such as wood or limestone.

The trend for far-flung holidays has inspired a different interior trend, with tribal African patterns and ethnic weaves now hot news in decorating. Exotic spices are also proving to be popular fragrances for the home.

However, the traditional English ‘country cottage’ look is still popular, with many homeowners turning to hand-made or vintage furniture to spruce up their homes. Post-war style influences are making a comeback, with patchwork quilts and multi-coloured crochet blankets a popular choice.

Chehvani said: “Decorating our own homes and being our own personal interior design gurus has never been so important as it has been in the last year. By following these tips, anyone can make their home beautiful and stand out from other properties on the market.”

Linda Androlia, regional sales director for Miller Homes West Midlands, added: “Everyone was really impressed by the advice Chehvani gave for making your home really stand out. In today’s challenging market conditions, the average time to sell a property on the second market is taking much longer than before.

Millers Gate is part of Kingsway Urban Village combining community living with rural appeal.  Manor Farm is a short walk away with residents able to enjoy the recently restored Grade 2 listed building and its vast grounds. Gloucester city centre, just a short drive away, offers enough to keep all residents occupied from its historically beautiful Cathedral to Kings Walk Shopping Centre.

Linda continued: “Alongside these tips, Miller Homes can help customers to sell their properties on the Miller Homes Move maker scheme. This allows you to choose a new home, while we manage and monitor the agents selling your property. When we have found a buyer, we pay the estate agent fees for you."

Properties at Millers Gate are available from £182,950, for a four bedroom semi-detached house. For more information about the range of homes available, visit millerhomes.co.uk.
