Women would do anything for their dream home
Nearly nine in ten (86%) women say they would make lifestyle sacrifices in order to live in the house of their dreams, a survey from FindaProperty.com has revealed.
FindaProperty.com, one of the UK’s leading property portals, surveyed over 2000 women to find out the importance they place on property.
Women would happily swap their Prada for the perfect property as designer clothes are the first thing to be sacrificed, with 62% saying they would happily give these up to help buy the house of their dreams. In addition, more than half would trade in buying a new set of wheels (57%) while 52% would quit the quest for the body beautiful and give up their gym membership.
Top 5 items women would sacrifice to live in their dream home:
1. Designer clothes (62%)
2. New car (57%)
3. Gym membership (53%)
4. Eating out (49%)
5. Holidays (38%)
Meals out are also sacrificed in the quest for the ideal home, with 49% of women choosing to dine in to help them save for a deposit while more than two thirds (38%) are willing to give up their annual trip abroad.
Nigel Lewis, property analyst at FindaProperty.com, comments:
“It seems an Englishwoman’s home is her castle as our latest research shows the importance women place on living in their dream home. Following the economic downturn in recent years and difficulties obtaining mortgage finance without a substantial deposit, homeowners are increasingly sacrificing luxuries in order to get on or move up the property ladder. The fact that such an overwhelming number of women are turning to practical solutions to realise their dream shows the weight owning your dream home has in the minds of the fairer sex.”
