Deposit help for homebuyers in Kent

23rd July 2010 Print

Cash-strapped Kent homebuyers could secure themselves a brand new spacious home with help towards their deposit.

Redrow is offering to pay 5% towards customers’ deposits on a new release of stylish two-storey two-bedroom homes at Sutton Woods, in Maidstone.

It could be the ideal boost onto the property ladder for first time buyers or those trading up from a one-bedroom house or apartment.

The offer comes at a time when two-bedroom homes in Maidstone are currently 9% cheaper than they were in September 2006* so it’s a great time for young couples, professionals or friends buying together to make a move into a home of their own.

Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern), said: “We know it can be difficult taking that first or next step onto the property ladder, particularly as borrowers are now paying an average 25% deposit, according to the Council of Mortgage lenders’ figures for May this year.*

“Our offer to pay 5% towards their deposit on selected two-bedroom properties should hopefully make buying a new home more affordable.”

Built on the site of the former Senacre College, off Sutton Road, Sutton Woods is a stylish venture of eco-friendly two, three and four-bedroom homes. The development incorporates some stunning mature trees and areas of open space, while being just a short walk from the picturesque Mote Park and conveniently close to Maidstone town centre.

As Kent’s county town, Maidstone has a wide variety shops, schools, sports and leisure centres, bars and restaurants, whilst Maidstone East station offers journey times to London Victoria or Charing Cross of around an hour.

The two bedroom ‘Bearsted’ and ‘Barming’ homes at Sutton Woods are both conventional two-storey designs, each coming complete with a high specification fitted kitchen, featuring contemporary units and top name appliances, a separate lounge / dining room, a downstairs cloakroom, two double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Prices for two-bedroom homes currently range from £172,950 to £175,950.

There is also a stunning selection of three and four-bedroom homes available, priced from £199,950 to £319,950, with part exchange an option for those with an existing property to sell on selected plots. Part exchange means Redrow will effectively act as a cash buyer for your old house so you avoid estate agent fees or the risk of becoming stuck in a housing chain.

All homes are being built to comply with Level 3 of the Government’s Code for Sustainable homes, which means home owners will benefit from the energy saving properties of solar power renewable energy systems in some homes, low-use water management systems, low energy use light fittings and waste segregation bins to encourage recycling.

To find out more about the homes available and help on offer, visit Sutton Woods, open daily 10am to 5.30pm.
