Persimmon expands operations in South Midlands

Studley-based Persimmon Homes South Midlands is once again expanding operations with the strategic appointment of a new land director.
Birmingham born David McGing joins Persimmon with a vast knowledge of the construction industry. With 13 years of experience and a first class honours degree in Residential Development from Nottingham University, David’s previous roles include a land buyer for the Kier Group, land manager for Beazer Homes and senior land manager for Crest Nicholson, land director for Chase Midlands and land director at Crosby Lend Lease, before becoming Persimmon’s land director for the South Midlands division.
David and his team will be responsible for sourcing new land opportunities across Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, assessing the financial viability of each site prior to acquisition.
In addition he will play a key role in identifying distinct market requirements for new homes in each of the chosen areas and will also work closely with planning officers to ensure each residential development complies with local authority guidelines.
Commenting on his new appointment David states: “I have always enjoyed a challenge and am looking forward to developing Persimmon’s land portfolio land in the South Midlands region.
“During the recession many housebuilders took a strategic decision to limit the purchase of new land, so it’s great to once again develop a number of key opportunities to create a number of much needed new homes for a variety of differing purchaser groups in the area.”
David was born and bred in Harborne where he now lives. In his spare time he enjoys being with his daughter and travelling.
