Monarch gets set for busiest summer get-away

Award-winning low fares airline Monarch is gearing up for its busiest summer get-away ever, with 300,000 passengers set to jet off to warmer climes at the beginning of the school holidays* - an 11% increase on the same period last year.

Between 22 July and 08 August, the Great British public will be flocking to some of the top holiday destinations throughout Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Turkey and Gibraltar in search of reliable sunshine hotspots.

The Canary Islands of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife, along with city-breaks to Barcelona, are proving hugely popular this summer with a 40% increase in bookings on these routes compared to the same period last year. Gibraltar is also proving to be the destination of choice with a 22% increase in bookings compared to summer 2009, as well as Larnaca in Cyprus where bookings have increased by 11%.

Monarch’s newest route from Gatwick to Majorca, which launched last week, is also proving hugely popular with 9,000 advanced bookings already taken and over 70,000 people will be heading off to Turkey this summer on Monarch’s new services to Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman.
