Monarch announces additional summer flights

5th August 2010 Print

Award winning low fares airline Monarch has added 22 additional scheduled flights into its flying programme during the last week of the school holidays this year, in response to the huge demand that is being seen for flights to and from Spain and the Spanish Islands.

Flights can be booked now via monarch.co.uk.

The additional flights, which will operate from Gatwick, Luton and Manchester to Malaga, Alicante and Majorca, will add an additional 4,000 seats into the market during this key travel period and will enable Monarch customers to take full advantage of the final summer holiday weeks.

Additional Monarch flights will operate as follows between 27 August and 05 September.

Malaga

Luton - additional flights on 27 August, 03 September and 05 September
Gatwick - additional flights added on 31 August
Manchester - additional flights added on 30 August, 01 September, 02 September and 05 September

Alicante

Gatwick - additional flights added on 31 August
Manchester - additional flights added on 31 August

Palma (Majorca)

Manchester - additional flights added on 29 August

In addition to the extra services to Spain and the Spanish Islands, the airline has also introduced additional services from Manchester to Gibraltar on Sunday’s between 12 September and 31 October, and from Luton to Gibraltar between 24 September and 29 October, bringing the total number of Monarch weekly services between the UK and ‘the Rock’ to 12.

Commenting on the additional summer flights, Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Tim Jeans said, “At the start of the year we believed that demand for this summer would lie in our Eastern Med destinations such as Turkey and Cyprus.  As the pound has strengthened against the euro however, we’ve also seen a huge surge in demand for flights to our core Western Med destinations, particularly those in Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and the Spanish Islands, and the addition of these flights is in direct response to this.  Monarch’s traffic figures have already recorded their highest ever passenger numbers for July coupled with their highest load factor ever, proving that 2010 is certainly not the year of the staycation!”

Monarch operates scheduled flights to Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal, Cyprus and Turkey from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester airports. In addition to year-round low fares, Monarch also offers a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals that can be pre-booked or purchased onboard with prices from £2.00.  To enable customers to select where in the cabin they sit and ensure that families and groups sit together, seats can be pre-booked at £7.50 per one-way flight, or from only £15, extra-legroom seats are available, which offer up to six inches of extra space.

Passengers travelling on scheduled flights can also avoid the queues at the airport and take advantage of online check-in which is available between seven days and 4.5 hours prior to departure.

In addition to flights, Monarch also now offers a huge range of great value holidays, accommodation options, car hire and travel insurance.
