10th August 2010 Print

Suzuki is please to announce the Jimny 40th Anniversary site is now live.  The site shows the history of the Jimny series since its launch in 1970 with the LJ10 model.  The Jimny has achieved cumulative global sales to date of 2.48 million and is sold across 188 global markets.  Archive information is available on the site on model background and specification with a range of photos of each model and can be accessed through the Suzuki GB media site or at globalsuzuki.com/jimny/index.html

When it was introduced, the Jimny was an affordable and lightweight but fully capable on and off road vehicle – as it remains today. It was powered back then by a 360cc two stroke engine and has evolved to meet the changing needs of customers while retaining its core values of lightness and fully fledged 4x4 capability.

The current Jimny was first introduced in 1998 and utilises a flexible 1.3-litre four cylinder engine, offering 85PS, official combined fuel consumption of 39.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 171g/km, making it one of the least polluting compact 4x4’s in its class.  It is a neat a practical SUV which has developed a loyal following of customers over the 40 years who are appreciative of its characterful appearance.

Jimny is available from £10,995 for the SZ3 model and includes metallic paint, front fog lamps, roof rails and remote central locking as standard equipment.

Earlier this year, the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) chose the Jimny to be based at beaches in the North West; Devon, Poole, Bournemouth and North Cornwall. 9 cars were supplied to the RNLI and are used for beach patrol work where conditions require a lightweight vehicle.
