Savour the taste of Kildare Food Festival

Whisk the kids away for a luxury break in Ireland at five-star golf and spa resort The K Club and enjoy an afternoon of fabulous food and family fun with Taste Kildare 2010, the renowned food and drink festival, which celebrates the best of local produce and crafts, for £120 per adult per night and £45 per child per night including a full Irish breakfast and a gourmet dinner.

Now in its third year, Taste Kildare, which takes place from 16th to 22nd August, will include a celebration of different flavours from around the county as well as tours and demonstrations from local farms, plus workshops from a selection of food and craft producers such as What’s Cooking, Daisy Chain Cupcakes, Missy Moo’s Ice Cream and Just Bead It Design. Foodies can indulge in their passion with special offers available at a host of nearby restaurants including Vie De Châteaux, the renowned wine bar and grill in Naas, and The K Club’s Byerley Turk and River Room restaurants amongst many others.

The week-long event takes place across various venues in Kildare including Ireland’s leading golf and spa resort, The K Club, for the Sunday finale from 12 to 5pm in the Victorian walled-garden within the resort’s 550-acre estate. Parents can enjoy the wine cellar and art tours, cookery demonstrations, place bets on the duck race on the River Liffey or relax with a drink at the bar enjoying the live music, whilst children will love the bouncy castles, clowns, fishing, horse riding and face painting.

Guests at The K Club can also indulge in a host of onsite activities including a dedicated kids’ club, clay-target shooting, falconry and family fishing lessons. Parents can unwind with a round of golf on either of the resort’s championship courses, the Palmer Ryder Cup course or the Palmer Smurfit course, or indulge at the heavenly K Spa with its jacuzzi, pool, outdoor hot tub, relaxation room, sauna and steam room, with a selection of exclusive treatments and therapies on offer.

There’s plenty to enjoy nearby too including the Wicklow Mountains, The Butterfly Farm in Straffan, Mondello Park International Race Circuit and Dublin Zoo.

Taste Kildare is a non-profit charity event and all proceeds from a monster raffle and money raised on the day will go towards Enable Ireland Kildare, which provide essential services to 160 children with disabilities from their new centre in Naas. Services for children and families include therapies such as physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy in conjunction with social work, psychology and home support services.
