Rolls-Royce Phantom sells for £195,500

18th August 2010 Print

Leading vehicle auction specialist, British Car Auctions (BCA), has reported continuing demand and interest for high value prestige vehicles, despite a recent drop in retail sales amid fears of a double dip recession.  The sale, conducted by BCA on behalf Lex Autolease saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe selling for £195,500 as well as a number of other prestige cars go for strong prices.

The sale included a tempting selection of top-drawer vehicles such as Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and Maserati.  In total, 266 cars sold for £4 million+, with an average selling price of £15,125.  There were 178 different buyers on the day.

The top value was recorded by the 2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe.  With a lavish specification and finished in black with silver hood with the optional teak decking tonneau cover, the Phantom had covered just 4,000 miles from new and sold for £195,500.  An 0857 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder E Gear 2 also sold strongly, realising £90,000 at 6,000 miles.

Tim Naylor, PR Manager, BCA said:  “This was a really positive sale, with a fabulous entry of top drawer vehicles from Lex Autolease.  With more than 400 buyers attending the sale at our Blackbushe auction centre and competitive bidding throughout, it suggests there is plenty of demand for even the most expensive vehicles despite the continuing economic uncertainty.”
