First time buyers across South Wales can now take advantage of an exciting scheme designed to help them on to the property ladder.

For the first time in South Wales, Barratt is offering Dreamstart on key new developments – aimed at first-time buyers and key workers. It allows buyers to own 100 per cent of a brand new home for just 75 per cent of the asking price.

“We are introducing this special scheme because we understand just how difficult it can be for buyers to make their first move in to the property market,” said sales director Adrian Bird. “The main stumbling point for many is the financial burden.

“With this scheme, we can help people realise the dream of owning their first home – even when that dream appears to be impossible. Availability is limited – so I urge buyers to seek out their nearest participating Barratt development soon and find out what we can do to help.”

Coed Celynen near Newport is offering Dream Start on its two bedroom Richmond homes – whilst Maes-Y-Ffynnon in the village of Abercynon in the Cynon Valley has two bedroom Washington houses available under the scheme.

In Port Talbot, Barratt is offering Dreamstart on two and three bedroom homes at its outstanding Abbottsmoor development. At Parc Tyn Y Coed in Bridgend, first time buyers can bag a three bedroom Palmerston home or a three bedroom end of terrace Enbourne home.

Pennar Heights in Newbridge, Newport, offers its three bedroom Maidstone home under Dreamstart. And in the picturesque village of Cwmavon, near Port Talbot, Barratt’s Copperminers development is offering the chance to own either a two bedroom or a three bedroom home as part of the scheme.

“Dreamstart isn’t a shared ownership deal,” said Adrian Bird. “Buyers will own 100 per cent of the property from day one. We won’t charge them rent or interest – the deferred amount is simply paid back as 25 per cent of the property’s open market value when it is resold or within 10 years. Whichever is sooner.

“There are some wonderful developments taking part for the very first time – and I know Dreamstart will prove extremely popular with first time buyers. We are delighted to play a part in helping them take that important first step on to the property ladder. I wish everyone involved in the scheme every success for the future.”
