Teacher makes an educated choice in Cannock

Four years ago primary school teacher, Jenny Pascall, moved into her own home and cited the help and guidance she received from Persimmon as instrumental in helping her take that exciting first step on the property ladder.

At the time, 30 year old Jenny was living with her parents in Penkridge but wanted her own place. Keen to stay nearby, she viewed a number of second hand properties however, all fell short of the renowned ‘wow’ factor that is synonymous with a brand new home – that was until she visited Persimmon’s Newlands Park development in Cannock.

Jenny, a teacher who works at Pool Hayes Primary School in Willenhall, was understandably daunted with the prospect of buying her first ever property so was grateful for the help and assistance she received from Persimmon. She reminisces: “I remember the sales team were extremely patient with me and were on hand every step of the way to explain the entire process – they even gave me a new home demonstration which I wouldn’t have had if I’d have bought second hand.”

Fast forward to 2010 and Jenny loves her apartment as much now as she did when she first moved in which is why she is using New Homes Month as a vehicle for promoting the benefits of apartment living and is showcasing why these properties provide first time buyers with an ideal opportunity to get a foothold on the property ladder. She continues: “When I saw the plans for the apartment, what struck me most was the amount of space I was getting for my money. I was dreading the prospect of having to purge a lot of my possessions but with so much room, I simply didn’t need to!”

Keeping a close eye on those purse strings is something the majority of people have to do once they’ve moved house, so the fact that the apartment is so energy efficient is an added bonus. Jenny adds: “Many people had told me about the energy efficient benefits of new homes and I know exactly what they mean now I’m living in one. The apartment is really toasty during the winter months which is a godsend as it means I know I’m not paying over the odds for my utility bills.

“All in all, buying an apartment from Persimmon Homes was a really sound choice – I had help every step of the way, I was able to personalise the property before I moved in, even down to the stainless steel sink in the kitchen and upgraded oven, and it’s great to have my own independence. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made and would certainly recommend it to anyone who is debating whether to make the move.”

Whilst Newlands Park has now sold out, Persimmon is building two bedroom apartments nearby at its Chenet Park development Off Walsall Road in Churchbridge, Cannock. Situated on the borders of Great Wyrley and Cannock, the development is close to the M6, M6 Toll, M54, A5 and A35 providing a good location for commuters to the north or south. Select properties at Chenet Park are available under the Government-funded HomeBuy Direct banner, with two bedroom apartments currently priced from just £79,450 on the scheme.
