No golden ticket required to enjoy Roald Dahl Day in Scotland

Scotland's national tourist organisation, VisitScotland has launched a mouth-watering chocoholics guide to celebrate Roald Dahl Day (13 September) and Scotland's Year of Food and Drink.
The online guide (available at visitscotland.com/autumharvest) showcases a wide variety of things to see and do for chocolate lovers across Scotland, from visiting chocolate factories to taking part in specialist chocolate cookery courses.
Speaking about the launch of the guide, Gaynyr Dickson, spokesperson for food and drink at VisitScotland, said: "One of Roald Dahl's most famous books is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and since 2010 is Scottish Year of Food & Drink, we thought this was the ideal way to celebrate the great author's birthday. There are many chocolate experiences across Scotland to indulge your taste buds and no golden ticket is required!"
High quality chocolate is hand-made all over Scotland, with flavours to suit every taste ranging from plain to Drambuie and oat and everything in between. Many producers also make gluten free and milk free chocolates, so there's something to suit most dietary requirements.
For the Willy Wonkas who want to have a go at making their own chocolate, there are several cook schools and chocolatiers offering tasting courses and courses in how to master the cocoa bean. These activities are perfect for a girls' night in or something different for a hen party. And don't forget the kids as many places offer special events for children - who could resist being the next Charlie Bucket!
For the ultimate chocolate experience, take a trip to The Scottish Chocolate Centre in Perthshire. The first visitor centre in Scotland dedicated to chocolate, its origins and the wondrous ways of turning cocoa into the most sought after of all confections. The Centre boasts an enchanting coffee house, gift showrooms and gourmet chocolate shop- the perfect autumn day out for all the family.
