Citroen will be title sponsor of the NSPCC’s 2010 ‘Country House Car Boot’ - an innovative, biennial event that encourages country house owners, landed gentry and celebrities to part with their unwanted antiques and heirlooms in aid of the charity.  This year’s event will be held on Sunday 26th September within the prestigious surroundings of Lodge Park, part of the National Trust’s Sherborne Park Estate in the Cotswolds.

With more than 150 car boot stalls - and items on sale from some of the UK’s most grand and desirable properties - the Country House Car Boot is a bargain hunter’s paradise.  The event will also feature a silent auction of possessions belonging to some of Britain’s A-list celebrities and famous faces.

In 2008, David Cameron’s cycling helmet, Anne Robinson’s glasses and Lewis Hamilton’s baseball cap were amongst the items under the hammer, helping to raise a grand total of £30,000 for the charity.  Items already donated for this year’s event include a plate from HRH Prince Charles and a nightdress from Elle Macpherson.

Marc Raven, Citroen UK’s Communications Director, commented: “The Country House Car Boot is a fantastic twist on the traditional format, a distinctive, very British charity initiative.  We’re delighted to be lending our support to the NSPCC and taking part in this fun family event.”

The upmarket extravaganza will host a display of models from Citroen’s stylish vehicle range.  Some classic cars from Citroen’s history are also expected to attend.  Other highlights will include a Cotswold farmer’s market, National Trust woodland walk, fairground rides, food stalls, licensed bars and a variety of arts and crafts stalls.
