Fallowfields – Taylor Wimpey West Midlands celebrate as their homes in Cannock awarded third in a row ‘Quality’ award in the National House Building Council (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job competition.

Buyers interested in new houses in Cannock might like to know that Fallowfields – a premier development of 85 new homes in picturesque Huntington village on the edge of Cannock Chase – has again won a prestigious award for its build quality.

What’s more, it’s four ‘Quality’ awards in a row for the Fallowfields senior site manager – Mick Wale (48) - who is fast becoming a permanent fixture in the NHBC’s annual Pride in the Job competition. His repeated success has also seen him awarded with an extra trophy – the inaugural Taylor Wimpey Regional Star Award - which he collected along with his framed NHBC certificate at a regional awards ceremony at The Pavilions Club in Wolverhampton.

John Gainham, Divisional Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey UK Ltd, says: “Mick just goes from strength-to-strength and he’s a real credit to this company and the construction ethics it stands for. He thoroughly deserves his success and we wish him and his team well in their quest for a ‘Seal of Excellence’ in the next round of the competition later in September. Their success has also been very good for the reputation of Taylor Wimpey in Cannock.”

“In addition to his NHBC victory, we’re particularly pleased with his success in the Taylor Wimpey Regional Star Award, which is our own ‘quality’ competition. Mick faced tough competition from two previous NHBC Regional Winners representing our other Midland offices, so he’s done exceptionally well again. Both competitions involve teamwork, dedication and a keen eye for detail - and our congratulations go out to the entire Fallowfields team for what must be some of the best houses for sale in Cannock."

A modest Mick adds: “I’m over the moon to be honest, it hasn’t sunk in yet. To win this coveted award once is an honour, but four years on the trot is beyond my wildest dreams. I guess it means I must be doing something right – and building homes in Cannock that people obviously want to live in.

“I’m also delighted to win the first Taylor Wimpey Regional Star Award because it’s equally nice to be recognised by your colleagues for the hard work and effort put in. I always do the job to the best of my ability and our houses in Cannock have gone down very well with local homebuyers, but an internal pat on the back means a lot too – as I really respect and admire the people I work with. It’s a fine trophy and will take pride of place on my mantelpiece.”

Now in its 30th year, the NHBC’s Pride in the Job is the only national competition to focus on the site manager’s role in producing high quality new homes. Judging takes place all year round and scores are given across different areas of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

NHBC inspectors will have made regular visits to Fallowfields during the last 12 months and assessed Mick’s performance from foundation level to the finished product, as well as all the day-to-day workings, Health & Safety record and presentation of the development.

With just three properties remaining at Fallowfields, a 4-bedroom, three storey mews home with garage is just £169,995, while there are two 5-bedroom, three storey detached homes with garage and they start from only £269,995. The Sales Centre off Stafford Road is open Thursday – Monday from 10am – 5pm.
