A consortium of housebuilders are joining forces to help raise money for a leading cancer charity.

Charles Church and Persimmon Homes are supporting Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and are inviting the Billinge community to ‘The Coppice’ development on Upholland Road from 10.30am on 24th September to enjoy a free cuppa in the Nunnington showhome, in return for a donation to the charity.

Lynne Vogel, field sales manager for Persimmon Homes helped to organise the event in support of the company’s sales adviser, Sarah McKeown, based at the Greenfields development sadly lost her daughter to the disease just a few years ago. Lynne comments: “Unfortunately cancer is something that affects many people’s lives and it’s a sad fact that the majority of people now know someone who has been stuck by this terrible disease.

“We wanted to support the Coffee Morning because of the devastation cancer causes families and we’re all hoping for a really strong turnout at the event.”

Carole Dudgeon sales executive at The Coppice, the Charles Church development where the event is taking place, adds: “We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of contractors on site who have already pledged to donate funds and we hope lots of people from the area come along help us raise as much money as possible for Macmillan.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship event. Last year, more than 43,000 official coffee mornings were held, raising more than £7.9 million for the charity.
