Drivers toast successful Goodwood Revival for Porsche Classic

Porsche Classic made its debut at the 2010 Goodwood Revival, September 17-19, and a star turn-out of drivers who raced for the Stuttgart marque visited the Porsche exhibit on the Saturday afternoon to toast a successful inaugural weekend for Porsche at the evocative Sussex race circuit.

The visiting drivers each made a significant contribution to the reputation of Porsche on race tracks around the world, including six wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours. The photo shows, left to right, Tiff Needell, Jackie Oliver, John Fitzpatrick, Vern Schuppan, Richard Attwood, David Piper, Michael Ostroumoff, and Derek Bell. The drivers are pictured gathered around the famous “Grandmother”, the 718 W-RS Spyder, from the Porsche Museum, which raced from 1961 to 1964.

Porsche Classic, the department of Porsche AG responsible for supporting all Porsche classic cars, recreated the spirit of the early 1960s in the March Motorworks at Goodwood and highlighted the expertise of the specialists based at its workshop near Stuttgart, Germany, as well as the comprehensive range of Porsche Classic original parts and technical literature.

Approximately 128,000 spectators attended the 2010 Goodwood Revival over its three days, underlining the enduring appeal of the event in the global historic motorsport calendar.
