Taylor Wimpey site manager Anthony Furey has had his hard work recognised after winning the prestigious Pride in the Job award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) for his work at the Westoe Crown Village development in South Shields.

Judging is based on site visits over the last 12 months on 38 different elements including build quality, health and safety, technical knowledge and overall leadership and organisational skills. Anthony and Westoe Crown Village have been recognised as one of the best in the industry by the UK’s standard setting body, proving that a high amount of commitment and hard work can get results.

There were more than 13,000 contenders for the Pride in the Job awards this year and Anthony is one of just 400 to receive a Quality Award. He now qualifies for the next heat where entrants will battle it out to earn an NHBC Seal of Excellence award.

Anthony, who has been working for Taylor Wimpey homes for more than over six years, identified teamwork and a positive attitude as the key to his success.

He said: “I’m proud of my team and the way that we work together. I treat everyone how I would like to be treated myself and that has resulted in a positive atmosphere at the site which shows in the work we do. We do everything possible to ensure that we create great results for our customers, with myself working closely with the site team and in partnership with our contractors to ensure that every detail of the site meets with company standards and is delivered to the highest quality.”

Introduced by the NHBC in 1980 and celebrating its 30th birthday this year, the Pride in the Job Award is designed to recognise the very best site managers in the UK. The award is one of the most prestigious in the housebuilding industry and, over the years, has become synonymous with the high quality of new homes.

Joan Peart, Taylor Wimpey regional sales and marketing director, said: “We are delighted for Anthony and the team at Westoe Crown Village – this award is a real testament to the consistent effort and quality delivered at the site. Anthony is an asset to our team and presents an ideal example of our commitment to building quality into all of our homes.”
