The Stratford Butterfly Farm is hosting a number of exciting daily activities for children during October half term week from Saturday 23 - Sunday 31 October.

Children of all ages can get up close and meet some of the insects which reside at the Farm, home to the largest live insect display in the world. “Jungle Explorers” talks and handling sessions will take place daily with touchy feely creepy crawlies at 11:30am and 2:30pm.

In addition children can delve their hands into ‘Sensation Boxes’ to guess what animal is inside! ‘All about Ants’ will feature a display about the fascinating leaf cutter ants with interesting facts about their behaviour plus there will be a fun and informative display about rainforests.

The Stratford Butterfly Farm, together with the International Association of Butterfly Exhibits and Suppliers is also organising a fundraising campaign during half term for the Homerus Swallowtail butterfly which is critically endangered. The butterfly, which is found in Jamaica, is having its habitat destroyed by Bauxite mining, the source of aluminium.

All donations will be gratefully received and will be sent to help the plight of this beautiful butterfly.

Why not visit the Farm on Halloween itself and give yourself a scary thrill by looking at the tarantulas! Arachnoland boasts over 15 types of spider and scorpion; however all are completely safe to visitors in their glass homes! A must see are the large Imperial Scorpions which glow in the dark!

The Stratford Butterfly Farm will be open from 10:00am – 5:30pm during half term. For more information, visit the official website at: butterflyfarm.co.uk
