First time buyers find dream home at Henley Grange

For many, living with Mum and Dad may seem like the only option as buying a place of your own can be expensive, but for Lisa James and her partner Chris Thomas, buying their own home at Henley Grange was easier than they thought thanks to Taylor Wimpey’s Easystart* shared equity scheme.
Lisa and Chris found their perfect pad at the Halesowen development and snapped up a two bedroom Linley apartment using the scheme which allows purchasers with a 5% deposit to buy 100% of the house for just 85% of the price.
Lisa said: “Chris and I had been renting a room at my Dad’s house because we thought it would be a good way to save money for a place of our own, but after 18 months it was getting a bit crowded! Then I saw an advert offering the Easystart scheme at Henley Grange and thought it sounded like a great idea so went along to the development to find out more.
“We immediately fell in love with the development and the sales executives, Rebecca and Julie, couldn’t have been more helpful. They talked us through all of our options and as it turned out, it was costing us almost as much to rent as it would be to buy a place of our own!”
Lisa and Chris are now happily settled in their new apartment and are enjoying the freedom that home ownership can bring.
“We really love being a part of Henley Grange as its so quiet and peaceful with lovely views of the surrounding woodland from our apartment, but close to Halesowen so our family and friends are nearby, as well as all of the town’s facilities.”
Anne Wallace, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “The case of Lisa and Chris is a perfect example of how people often think buying a house is too expensive when in fact the monthly cost of the mortgage can be similar to what you’d pay in rent and can sometimes be even cheaper! Easystart is a great way for first time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder and our two bedroom apartments at Henley Grange make the ideal first home.”
Through the Easystart scheme homebuyers simply pay a five per cent deposit to secure the property and pay 80% of the purchase price via their prearranged mortgage. Taylor Wimpey Midlands then loans the purchaser the remaining amount for up to ten years with no rent or interest payable. The scheme is flexible, allowing purchasers to repay the outstanding amount early or even make smaller one-off payments up to three times during the ten year period.
Henley Grange comprises a collection of 154 mews-style homes and contemporary apartments located within the established residential area of Belle Vale. The development enjoys a semi-rural feel with the River Stour close by and attractive woodland and public open space to the rear.
Halesowen town centre has excellent facilities including the Cornbow Centre, which is filled with high street names, and a regular farmer’s market to explore. There’s also a selection of welcoming bars, restaurants and coffee shops. At the weekend purchasers will be spoilt for choice with a selection of sports and leisure facilities including parks and golf courses.
