‘E’ equals economy in Seat’s green champions

SEAT’S burgeoning range of environmentally responsible Ecomotive models is now becoming even easier to spot with the roll-out of a new badging structure.

To coincide with the imminent debut on UK roads of the all-new, seven-seat Alhambra MPV – which boasts a class-leading ‘green’ version – and the arrival here of the latest generation Ibiza Ecomotive with emissions slashed to an exceptional 92 g/km, SEAT is launching an enhanced Ecomotive nomenclature.

The existing, well-known, Ecomotive name remains, and is now applied to all SEAT cars that feature any of the progressive Spanish brand’s ingenious, effective and economy-minded ‘Ecomotive technologies’ such as auto Start/Stop or Brake Energy Recovery.

However the very lowest-emitting model in each range – which will generally include all Ecomotive technologies as well as yet more frugal features such as bespoke aerodynamics and low rolling resistance tyres – will now be badged E Ecomotive.

The addition of the new ‘E’, which appears in green above the chrome Ecomotive boot lid badge, makes these standard-bearers of SEAT’s green performance identifiable at a glance.

SEAT’s extensive line-up of environmentally responsible models now includes versions of the Ibiza SC, Ibiza 5dr, Ibiza ST, Leon, Altea, Altea XL and, shortly, new Alhambra.  These real world examples of SEAT’s commitment to fuel efficiency and emissions reduction appear alongside the brand’s concepts for future engineering and styling developments such as the petrol/electric hybrid Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive and latest plug-in electric IBE concept.

Welcoming the arrival of the eye-catching new E Ecomotive badge SEAT UK Product Marketing Manager Andy Medcraft said: ‘The growing number of Ecomotives on our roads clearly shows how popular these frugal yet sporty cars are becoming.

‘I think the arrival of this new badging structure will only serve to underline our cars’ emergence as a leader in the field of environmentally responsible motoring.’
