19th October 2010 Print

Swiss International Air Lines today celebrated the 100 millionth passenger in its history. Holger Hätty, Member of the Management Board of SWISS, congratulated the landmark passenger prior to departure from Zurich Airport.

Reaching the 100-million-passenger mark today represents an important milestone in the company’s history. Holger Hätty, Member of the Management Board of SWISS, surprised the history-making passenger prior to departure from Zurich Airport with the presentation of a free flight for two persons.

“We are delighted to welcome the 100 millionth passenger on board today. The steady increase in passenger numbers indicates that we are on the right path. In this way we wish to express our thanks to all of our passengers for the confidence they have shown in SWISS,” Hätty said upon making the presentation at the airport.

The 100 million passengers, who together would fill the new Airbus A330-300 a total of 423,729 times, are the result of SWISS having built up an attractive network in line with demand and the ongoing modernisation and expansion of the SWISS fleet with aircraft that offer customers improved comfort. In the first nine months of the current year SWISS has transported three per cent more passengers than for the same period a year ago. Since 2004 SWISS has succeeded in increasing passenger volume by more than 50%.
