Breakdown stops Apex cars from racing in Italy
The Apex GT3 Jaguar will not be taking part in the second round of the FIA GT3 European Championships in Adria, Italy, this weekend. The kyanite blue Jaguar XKRS race car was in transit to the circuit, when the transporter suffered a broken axle in northern France.Despite valiant efforts by the team to arrange alternative transport, the team missed registration deadline, and were unable to participate in the weekend’s race events.
The transporter, and Apex car, will shortly be on their way back to the UK where repairs will be made in time for the next round of the championships at Oschersleben on 27th and 28th June.
Apex Operations Director, John Christie, said; “We’re all gutted. After the last race at Silverstone, we carried out testing on a different tyre compound, and were very pleased with the improvements to handling and speed. The team were keen to see the car perform on the Italian circuit.”
