Help for first time buyers in Sandbach
Four new homes in Sandbach’s stunning Hop Yard development are to be made available to buy under a government-backed shared ownership scheme to help local people get on the property ladder.
The scheme allows people to buy a share of the property, between 25-75% and then pay a below-market-rate rent on the remaining share.
You can then buy more shares at any time, up to 100%, when you are ready.
The four two-bedroom homes, which have off-road parking and gardens to the rear, are available from just £67,500 for a 50% share.
They are being sold through HomesHub, the government’s HomeBuy Agent for Cheshire and Merseyside, which is part of Neighbourhood investor Plus Dane Group, a housing association with more than 15,000 homes in Cheshire and Merseyside.
HomesHub’s Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Jo Morfee, said: “First time buyers typically have to find a smaller deposit than they would normally, and pay a reduced rent on the remaining share, which is retained by Plus Dane Group.
“The customers can buy more shares when they can afford them and eventually own the whole property if they want to. They are also free to sell the share on the open market if they want to move on.
“At a time when local people are struggling to get on the property ladder in Sandbach because they can’t afford the large deposits, or are finding they can’t meet mortgage criteria, this offers a great way to take the plunge and enjoy the benefits of owning and investing in your own home.”
The homes, in Chapel Street, have been built to a very high specification by Seddon’s, with a focus on exceptional interior finishes. The design blends new build features with a traditional feel.
One person who has been helped through the HomesHub process is Philip Brown.
The 28-year-old security officer, who has moved into a new build house in Ellesmere Port, said: “Without HomesHub I wouldn’t be able to get on the property ladder, it’s been a massive help.
“It was a great feeling to get the keys and step through the door of my own home.”
