Petrolheads first to enjoy Infiniti’s new diesel

The first Infiniti M30d has arrived in the UK – and immediately gone into the spotlight at one of the country’s highest-octane car events. Japan’s newest, boldest and most distinctive performance luxury saloon is making its British debut at MPH The Prestige and Performance Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham this week (11-14 November) where the headline act is Top Gear Live.

Combining both prestige and performance in generous measures, the all-new V6-powered M30d proves it takes a special sort of diesel saloon to cut it among many of the fastest and most beautiful cars ever built. Infiniti’s antidote to ubiquitous executive saloons from Germany will be very much at home at the show thanks to its highly resolved driving appeal, amazing 550 Nm of pulling power and Infiniti’s signature luxury based around a mix of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.

Alongside the Storm Front Grey M30d on the 129sq m stand in the NEC’s Hall 5 will be examples from the other Infiniti ranges available in the UK: the dynamic G37 Convertible, the world’s first coupé-crossover EX30d, and the potent V8-powered SUV flagship, the FX50. As well as marking the UK debut of the M30d, this week’s show represents Infiniti’s first involvement in the annual petrolhead extravaganza.

The cars have been provided by the latest Infiniti Centre to join the Japanese manufacturer’s burgeoning UK retail network. For Infiniti Centre Birmingham, MPH The Prestige and Performance Motor Show Featuring Top Gear Live is very much a local event. The new Centre, on Small Heath Highway at Bordesley Circus on the outskirts of the city (postcode: B10 0BW), is just a few miles from the National Exhibition Centre.

“The show is a great opportunity to showcase the Infiniti range to car enthusiasts who are just as passionate about design and performance as we are,” said Infiniti Centre Birmingham’s CRM and Marketing Manager, Donna Phelps.

MPH The Prestige and Performance Motor Show puts the emphasis firmly on the world’s best cars. As well as all kinds of glamorous high performance machinery, special halls are devoted to exotic supercars, rare classics and the latest from the worlds of engine tuning, body styling and technology.

For many the highlight of a visit will be a chance to see the ultimate in car theatre as Clarkson, Hammond and May unleash the horsepower in their latest Top Gear Live stage show, The Prototype Tour, before it heads off around the world.

Infiniti’s debut at such a spectacular event corresponds with the start of UK sales of the M30d. Joining the petrol-powered M37 in the first-time-in-Europe M line-up, the 235bhp M30d costs from £39,250 in luxury GT form. The car on show at the NEC is the GT Premium model expected to be the biggest seller. As Infiniti’s top grade, the GT Premium includes features that are missing in even some of the vastly more expensive supercars at the show, such as premium semi-aniline leather, high-gloss wood trim finished with real silver powder, the latest in communications and entertainment connectivity plus a suite of advanced collision-avoidance technologies.
