Audi A5 named most popular coupé

11th November 2010 Print

Everybody loves a coupé, whether it is the sleek body lines, the executive styling or the often sporty performance, a good coupé speaks the language of art and elegance and as such this style of car has proven popular among both private and business motorists throughout history.

But which is the best coupé available today? According to the latest research from the UK’s biggest website for car leasing deals,, the Audi A5 coupé is the best there is. Taking the top ten most searched for coupés on the website, web visitors who include personal and business contract hire customers alike, were polled on which was their favourite. Beating stiff competition, the A5 coupé took 21 per cent of the vote, beating its main rival, the BMW 3-Series coupé into second place with 19 per cent of the vote and the Volkswagen Scirocco in third with 12 per cent.

So what makes the A5 coupé so special? Combining the practical dimensions of a saloon with the raked body lines of a coupé, the A5 coupé beat its own sibling the TT to the title of the best coupé thanks to its combination of space, style, prestige, strong residuals and the reputation of the Audi name.

The A5 coupé is available with a choice of diesel and petrol engines, transmissions and trims to suit all tastes and a variety of budgets. It can also be selected with Audi’s Quattro four-wheel drive, for agile and precise handling. Launched in 2007, the model has been popular with car buyers and contract hire customers ever since.

Spokesperson for the website, Richard Lawton says: “The Audi A5 has been widely praised since it was first launched and with changes added to the range in 2009 only enhanced its appeal and Audi is still reaping the rewards of that.

“While the competition was close in the form of the BMW 3 Series, the A5 has been consistently higher in the search rankings on over the last year and the results of our poll reflect that it’s attracting the customers,” he adds.
