First time buyers can get on the property ladder thanks to Persimmon

With recent reports* highlighting the average age of first time buyers has reached the staggering age of 38, those looking for their first home would be forgiven for thinking they may not be able to get onto the property ladder for quite some time, but thanks to a leading local homebuilder the average age of first time buyers in Dagenham is just 28.

With properties designed and priced with first time buyers in mind, Persimmon Homes Essex’s Evolution development in Dagenham has been an instant success among househunters in the area, so much so that the site has sold ahead of schedule with over 50 per cent of the homes now sold.

Neil Sykes, sales director for Persimmon Homes Essex, states: “Two of the greatest challenges househunters face is saving up for a large deposit and raising a suitable mortgage. Therefore we’re offering our homes with our 85 per cent shared equity scheme, which helps to eradicate these problems.”

He adds: “Shared equity has been the driving force behind so many first time buyers being able to buy at Evolution, which is why the average age of our first timers here is so much lower than the national figure.”

Evolution currently offers an attractive range of one and two bedroom apartments as well as a selection of three and four bedroom family homes. Through shared equity the flats in Dagenham are priced from £95,960 while the houses start from £212,458.

Due to the stage of construction some of the properties will be available to those looking to move home prior to Christmas, and those in a position to move quickly will also be eligible for a special incentive package which includes fitted carpets throughout the new property.

Neil concludes: “With our housetypes being snapped up so quickly thanks to our shared equity scheme, I’d urge interested parties to visit our development sooner rather than later, before they potentially miss out on their dream new home.”

Evolution benefits from a great location, under a mile from Dagenham’s town centre, which hosts a number of High Street and independent shops as well as cafés, bars and restaurants. London is easily reached within 31 minutes via rail from the Dagenham Dock station to London Liverpool Street, Dagenham is also on the Tube line at Dagenham East or Heathway on the District Line making the development an ideal place to call home for commuters.
