A kick-start for buyers in Torquay

22nd November 2010 Print

First time buyers looking for a new home in Torquay can now take a look at what Barratt has to offer this autumn at its popular development in the town where several homes in particular are proving highly popular among visitors.

“We offer a range of one and two bedroom homes at this sought-after development,” said Barratt sales manager Mary Daymond. “And these are well within reach for those seeking to take their first step into the property market because we offer a special scheme to help.”

Those seeking new homes but feel unable to buy because of financial constraints can turn to Kickstart to boost them into their first home.

“It can be tricky to find the finances required to secure your first home,” said Mary. “So we are pleased to be able to help.”

Kickstart is part of a government-backed scheme, called HomeBuy Direct. And, as its name suggests, it is designed to boost the local housing market.

“It gives buyers the opportunity to move into a home here at Torre Marine for only 70 per cent of the price, with the remaining 30 per cent covered by a loan from Barratt and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency. Because a smaller mortgage is required, monthly repayments should be more affordable.”

Mary said that Torre Marine has proved popular with first time buyers who have taken advantage of tailored schemes from Barratt such as Kickstart to help get their first foot on the ladder.

“Everyone welcomes a helping hand when they’re buying a new home – especially when it’s their first step on to the property ladder,’’ said Mary.

Homes currently available with Kickstart include the Avon one bedroom apartment which is priced at £132,500 and is a ground floor property with parking and has already been fitted with carpet and curtains.

Torre Marine is blessed with a prime location in Torquay – just far enough away from the tourist traps to offer peace and quiet but only a 15 minute walk to the beach, marine and town centre. It is proving to be a huge draw for those aspiring to clinch an enviable coastal lifestyle.

At Torre Marine Barratt has a selection of one and two bedroom apartments currently available under Kickstart with prices from £132,500 and for those moving up the housing ladder Barratt’s part exchange option is offered on three and four bedroom houses which are priced from £194,950.
