Staff and pupils at Thomas Alleyne’s High School in Uttoxeter got a welcome surprise recently when Anne Wallace, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, stopped by to hand over a cheque for £500.

The school, which is building a new workshop area for use by Design & Technology pupils, had approached Taylor Wimpey for support and the house builder was happy to help.

Ian Rhodes, design and technology teacher from Thomas Alleyne’s High School, said: “We’re planning to develop our delivery of vocational courses relating to the construction industry in the next academic year and thought as Taylor Wimpey is currently building in the town, that it’d be the ideal business to approach.

“We’re extremely grateful for this donation, which will be used to buy equipment for the new workshop. The construction team at The Stables have also invited interested pupils to visit the development to find out first hand what a career in construction entails.”

Anne Wallace, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, adds: “It’s fantastic that the school has such a wide variety of vocational courses on offer that encourage pupils to embark on a career in a trade such as construction. We’re looking forward to welcoming pupils keen to find out more about house building and the wider industry to The Stables next year.”

The Stables is in a conservation area with elevational details designed to compliment the immediate environment and commands a much sought after location in the heart of Uttoxeter, ensuring residents will have everything they need at their fingertips. The town’s facilities include shops, restaurants, bars, twice weekly outdoor markets, a Tesco supermarket and Cinebowl entertainment complex, all within walking distance.

Situated close to the A50, Uttoxeter benefits from easy access to the M6, along with the towns and cities of Burton-upon-Trent and Stoke-on-Trent. Rail users will find the mainline railway station is just a short walk away, for stress free commuting to Derby.

There is currently a collection of two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom houses available with prices starting from £99,995. For further information about The Stables, visit: taylorwimpey.co.uk
