First time buyer of 20 off to a 'Flying Start' in Tunbridge Wells

Rachel Copper, 20, felt it was time to leave her family home in Pembury , Kent, to have her own space and independence. Thanks to Fairview New Homes’ ‘Flying Start’ incentive she was able to step onto the property ladder with her partner, Simon, without the help of parents.
Rachel, a manager at Boots, says: “Renting was never an option for me. My parents brought my brother and I up with the idea that it was always best to have your money in property and so I was determined to step onto the property ladder.”
Rachel adds: “Simon and I were very disappointed when we started looking and realised that we couldn’t afford anything, especially around Tunbridge Wells. It was only when we saw that Fairview was advertising their ‘Flying Start’ incentive that we began to be hopeful. This was the only way we could access the market.
“We were amazed at how lovely the plans for The Bridge are. Not only could we afford these apartments, but they were new build, spacious properties, set in landscaped gardens in the centre of Tunbridge Wells!”
Rachel and Simon bought a new two-bedroom apartment at Fairview’s stylish development in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Fairview paid 20% of their deposit so they only had to put down 5% on their property which they bought for £181,000.
Rachel concludes, “Me, Simon and our 11-month old daughter, baby Abbie, are so excited to move into our new home, have our own space and friends round... and The Bridge is only a 10 minute walk from where I work in town. Things really couldn’t be better!” Rachel finishes.
Jim Holliday, Sales Director of Fairview New Homes, comments, “Accessing the property market is very difficult at the moment and first time buyers are unfortunately the hardest hit, with increasing unemployment, rising university fees, and mortgage approvals at their lowest level since April last year.
“At Fairview we really aim to help customers like Rachel and Simon. It is fantastic to see that people as young as 20 are able to step onto the property ladder, especially when the current average age of a first time buyer is estimated at 38.”
Fairview’s ‘Flying Start’ incentive is available across a number of their developments. The 20% deposit loan is free for up to ten years, and is only available on selected new apartments, so Fairview are urging those thinking of stepping onto the property ladder to head to their nearest Fairview development as soon as possible for more information.
