Chester MP Stephen Mosley has praised the ‘excellent facilities and friendly atmosphere’ at the city’s newest retirement village – Boughton Hall.

Mr Mosley made the comments during his visit to the prestigious development, which consists of 78 homes and a central hub of communal amenities, in Filkins Lane, Chester. During his time at Boughton Hall he chatted to staff, took a tour of the four acre village and enjoyed afternoon tea with the residents.

“It was a pleasure to visit Boughton Hall and witness for myself the excellent facilities on offer and friendly atmosphere within,” said Mr Mosley. “Seeing it at work really brings the retirement village concept to life and it was immediately obvious the benefit it brings to its residents and society alike.”

Mr Mosley also spent time discussing local political matters with residents – his constituents – and said he hoped to return in the future.

Boughton Hall is in the heart of Mr Mosley’s constituency and represents the kind of continuing care retirement community (CCRC) which successive governments have been keen to see develop – enabling residents to remain in their own homes with support and care available when needed.

The bespoke apartment buildings are centred on the village’s focal point, a beautifully restored country mansion which houses both further apartments and a multitude of services – including a restaurant, bar, lounge, gym, hair and beauty salon and hotel-style reception - available for the exclusive use of residents and their guests.

Mr Mosley was a guest of Boughton Hall’s developers Barnardo Developments and Enterprise Retirement Living.

Enterprise Retirement Living managing director Neil Davison said: “We appreciated the opportunity to explain to Mr Mosley the concept of retirement villages as one of the solutions to the changing demographic profile of the UK.

“Boughton Hall, and other developments like it, offer independence in a community of like-minded people seeking security, companionship and choice.”
