Toyota Fleet team raise over £10,000 in Lakeland challenge

The team consisted of Mark Johnson, Matt Mulkerrins and Tim Willett all of whom work within Toyota (GB)’s Fleet Department. The Challenge required canoeing the 11 mile length of Lake Windermere, cycling 26 miles over Wrynose and Hard Knotts Pass conquering gradients of 1:3 in a route that climbs 1200 feet. The final leg comprised running eight miles over Scafell Pike (3208 feet) to the finish. It is the longest, tallest and steepest adventure trial in England with the added challenge of finishing in less than 12 hours.
Mark Johnson, Team captain said, “We finished fourth in the overall points classification for the Challenge with a time of just over nine hours – not a bad effort all round considering the weather conditions.” Mark is no stranger to this event having competed on three previous occasions and actually winning in 2002 with a time of just under seven and a half hours.
“We could not have raised such a sum without help from our sponsors from the fleet world. Our special thanks go to Ashfield Healthcare who contributed £2000; Wavin; E Surv; Dollond & Aitchison; Agility; Inchcape; RRG Group; Listers; Lex; Service Innovation Group and Christian Salvesen. I would also like to thank my wife, Sarah for being the team driver throughout the event.”
