Aaron Hayes and Cathy Floyd received 5% towards their deposit as a gift from Taylor Wimpey, helping them secure their first home at the housebuilder’s Gainsborough Place development of new homes in Wivelsfield, near Burgess Hill.

At a time when many first-time buyers need a bigger deposit to get a mortgage, Aaron Hayes and Cathy Floyd are delighted that Taylor Wimpey has given them a helping hand in securing their dream property in Wivelsfield.

The young couple are first to reserve a brand new home at the leading housebuilder’s Gainsborough Place development of property for sale in Wivelsfield, near Burgess Hill, and took advantage of Taylor Wimpey’s 5% Gifted Deposit scheme.

This money-saving initiative saw Taylor Wimpey top up their deposit by 5% of the purchase price of their two-bedroom coach house apartment – and they won’t ever need to pay that money back. Now the couple are looking forward to moving into their brand new home in Wivelsfield.

“It can be really tricky getting a mortgage if you are a first-time buyer,” says Aaron, (26). “We had been saving for a deposit for about a year, and spent a couple of months looking at properties in Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill, when we found the home we wanted at Gainsborough Place.

“We were really pleased to secure a Gifted Deposit from Taylor Wimpey. It meant we could afford to put down the right deposit using our savings, topped up by the 5% gift. A smaller outlay was very useful for both of us, because buying a first home can be an expensive time.”

Adds Cathy, (25): “We knew we wanted a new-build home, and had looked at another developer’s site in the area, but didn’t like what we saw there.

“We went to Gainsborough Place on the first day it opened. As soon as we saw the showhome and what our apartment will look like, we fell in love with it and reserved it the very next week.

“From the outside it looks lovely, there’s a garden, which is a real bonus, and inside the layout is brilliant because it has an open plan kitchen/lounge that we will just love.”

Aaron, who works from home for OfficeTeam Ltd, adds: “Having a second bedroom was a must for us, because I’ll need an office, and having a garage with our apartment is also very handy as we can use it for storage. Our home has everything we’ll need.”

Gainsborough Place’s location is also key for Cathy, a graphic designer for Giant Investments in Hove, just 10 miles away.

The development is within easy walking distance of Wivelsfield railway station, which is on the mainline to Brighton, and Burgess Hill town centre offers the couple good shopping, a cinema, plus pubs and restaurants.

Those seeking a first home like the one chosen by Aaron and Cathy can own a two-bedroom coach house apartment with a garage and its own private front door and entrance hallway from just £189,995 at Gainsborough Place, while two-bedroom apartments at the development start from only £169,995.

Selected two-bedroom apartments boast en-suite master bedrooms, and each property comes with either an allocated parking space or a garage.

Those seeking a house at the development can choose from three-bedroom designs starting from £274,995, a four-bedroom detached property at £369,995, and a magnificent six-bedroom house priced at only £439,995.

Full details on homes and incentives for first-time buyers and those with a property to sell are available by visiting Gainsborough Place Sales and Marketing Suite, located off Downscroft, Wivelsfield, RH15 0UF, and open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5.30pm.
