Toast the royal couple at Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival

Scotland's Malt Whisky Country - home to more than half of Scotland's whisky distilleries - presents the perfect place to raise a glass to the Royal Couple on 29th April this year, and where better to search for a celebratory dram than at the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival (28th April - 2nd May).

Distilleries, shops, hotels, restaurants, pubs and villages throughout Speyside are preparing to welcome thousands of visitors from around the world with quality malt whiskies, special tastings, food, outdoor activities, music and many other entertaining events.

The five day Festival, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, is a celebration of Scotland's national drink - and you don't even have to drink a drop of the stuff to enjoy yourself. With more than 200 events making up the Festival programme, visitors will be sure to find many to suit their taste, from distillery and cooperage tours, to whisky and wildlife walks and smuggling talks.

For the first time, this year's programme highlights other superlative Speyside produce with the introduction of half and whole day Food and Drink Tours. Visitors can learn about and sample top quality Scottish meats and game and sample offerings from across the region, which is also home to iconic Scottish brands such as Baxters and Walkers.

Visitors can also take part in whisky and food pairing workshops - from sausages to chocolate - watch cookery demonstrations, visit local farmers markets or attend one of the many Festival dinners to try these edible offerings for themselves.

Families can enjoy a number of fun, friendly and even free events from street parades to traditional ceilidhs organised in communities across the region, or take time out to visit one of the area's stunning castles or the beaches of the Moray coast - recently named one of the world's top coastal destinations by National Geographic Traveller magazine. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the stunning natural landscape with offers opportunities for activities including walking, cycling, canoeing, golf and fishing.
