Twins in Greenhithe buy first home at just twenty-two

Kelly and Becci Prosser, 22 year-old twins, have bought their first property at Thames Waterside in Greenhithe through Fairview New Homes.

They were able to take advantage of Fairview’s ‘Flying Start’ incentive, which means they only had to put down a 5% deposit on their two-bedroom property.

Kelly, a receptionist at a luxury hotel in London, explains, “Becci and I have been saving for our own home for three or four years now. Before moving to Thames Waterside we lived with our parents in Hextable, near Swanley, but we always wanted our independence. We were determined, and now are so proud that we were able to do it all ourselves.

“We had a lot of trouble at first finding anything remotely affordable,” continues Kelly. “The likelihood of being able to put together a 25% deposit in the area was looking slim for us until we came across Fairview and their first time buyer incentive. This meant we only had to find a 5% deposit, plus they gave us £2,000 towards buying furniture!”

Kelly continues, “Both Becci and I commute to London every day as we both work centrally. We were keen to stay around Dartford where we grew up, so we had to be on a good rail link. Thankfully, our new home is just a four minute walk from Greenhithe train station! It takes me 50 minutes to get into Charing Cross and Becci just 40 minutes to get into London Bridge, where she works as a PA at a global bank.”

Kelly and Becci bought a two double bedroom apartment with a balcony at Thames Waterside for £164,000.

“We are getting to know Greenhithe every day and both really like the surprisingly village-like feel to it, with its lovely high street pubs and restaurants. Our friends and family have come over and absolutely love the development – right on the Thames with views across the river, landscaped communal gardens to wander through, contemporary new build design, and all just ten minutes from Bluewater shopping centre!”

Thames Waterside is a development of one, two and three-bedroom apartments in Greenhithe, Dartford.

With prices from £159,995, these new homes are perfectly priced for those looking to buy their first home. Jim Holliday, Sales Director of Fairview New Homes, comments: “At Fairview, we aim to provide high quality new homes at the most competitive prices on the market. First time buyers are finding it harder and harder to step onto the property ladder, so we are hoping to help them out at developments like Thames Waterside, with prices that they can afford and incentives like the 5% deposit top-up.”

Greenhithe is part of the Thames Gateway Regeneration project that has received large amounts of funding from the government over the past decade to transform it into the thriving and aspirational area it is today. The town has a large number of local restaurants, pubs and bars and has the largest number of green spaces and parks in the borough. For the more active, there are many local activities with the Kent countryside just moments away, local river walks and outdoor activities based from Bluewater, including cycling, rock climbing, boating and fishing.

The stylish new properties at Thames Waterside will have open-plan living areas with timeless neutral tones to complement the tranquil surroundings. Each apartment will have fully-fitted Symphony kitchens, with fan ovens, electric hobs and washer-dryers.

Prices for new homes at Thames Waterside start from £159,995 for a one-bedroom apartment.
