Toyota helps Surrey Police tackle a local “polar challenge”

Toyota GB, which has its headquarters near Epsom, was pleased to provide five vehicles to help the force with its work reaching communities in the worst hit parts of the county. Four Land Cruisers and a RAV4 were recruited for the operation from the Technical Centre based in Salfords, with staff working extra hours to ensure the safe preparation of the vehicles.
Surrey experienced some of the worst of the snowstorms that hit the UK last Sunday night, with around a foot of lying snow in parts of the north of the county.
Chief Inspector Stuart Sang, head of Surrey Police Roads Policing Unit, said: “The vehicles Toyota supplied were used to supplement our 4x4 capability and enabled us to provide an extraordinary service to the people of Surrey in these extraordinary circumstances, ensuring people were not left stranded and wherever possible traffic was kept moving.”
A Toyota spokesman said: “We were only too pleased to help the police in the exceptional weather conditions. We have witnessed Toyota 4x4s conquering some of the world’s toughest environments, so had every confidence they would be up to the job in our own back yard.”
