Affordable family fun at Tower Bridge this half term

There's lots of good old-fashioned fun to be had at Tower Bridge during February half term when the high level Walkways will once again be the setting for a range of traditional Victorian Games. And what’s more, the prices are traditional too with family tickets starting at just £11.

From Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 February tickets to the “The World’s Most Famous Bridge” will include the added attraction of giant dominoes, hopscotch, noughts & crosses, quoits and roll-a-ball, with prizes available for some games.

“The Games proved enormously popular during last year’s school holidays when we first offered visitors to the Tower Bridge Exhibition this extra dimension to their journey back in time,” said Tower Bridge marketing manager Chris Earlie. “They may look and sound easy peasy compared to today’s sophisticated entertainment but who’s actually ever won noughts and crosses?! There’s a knack to winning these games which makes them quite compulsive.”

Before reaching the games arena in the panoramic East and West Walkways with amazing views across London visitors can explore the magnificent Bridge to find out why and how it was built and what life was like at the time in Victorian London. Back on ground level in the Engine Rooms there’s the chance to see the magnificent restored steam machinery that was used to power the bridge lifts.

Younger visitors can also enjoy the Guy Fox Tower Bridge Passport, a sticker-based activity free for every child which makes exploring the history of the Bridge fun and helps to focus their attention during their visit. The Passport is available in seven languages - English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Japanese.

Admission prices for Tower Bridge are adults £7, children aged 5-15 £3, under 5s free and concessions £5; family tickets start at £11. Joint tickets for admission to Tower Bridge and the beautifully restored Monument nearby are available at £8, £5.50 and £3.50. Opening times are 9.30am to 6.00pm (last admission 5.00pm).
